Q. What are some of the indications for Brain PET?
Brain PET also utilizes the agent FDG used in whole body PET. The main indications are: malignancy, epilepsy, brain damage, Alzheimer's/dementia, radiation necrosis vs. brain tumor, depression, etc.

Patient A demonstrates diffuse frontal hypometabolism due to a head injury. In comparison, Patient B demonstrates only mild right frontal hypometabolism, also due to head trauma. Patient C presents with dementia and demonstrates diffuse hypometabolism in the posterior occipito-parietal regions and mild hypometabolism in the temporal and frontal regions.
